NTBLCP, ARFH And Partners Discuss Way Forward To Close The Gaps In Drug Resistant Tuberculosis(DRTB) Implementation In Nigeria

The persistent gap in the diagnosis of Drug Resistant Tuberculosis(DRTB) and the enrolment of the patients on treatment in Nigeria has become a great concern to the National TB and Leprosy Control Program and Partners.  The need to proffer solution to this challenge is pertinent and ensure commitment from relevant stakeholders and partners. Centralization of the DRTB treatment and care was identified as contributory to this challenge.

Major Outcome of the discussion:

  • To develop road map and SOP for decentralization of DR-TB treatment care and support to the health facility level.
  • To chart strategies for the implementation of the adherence and counselling intervention in bridging existing gap in treatment coverage.

This is in addition to other review meetings to appraise the progress made in quarter 2, 2022 on implementation at the sub-national level for Drug Susceptible TB, TB/HIV, Buruli Ulcer and Leprosy control activities in relation to key performance indicators of the NTBLCP.
