VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) is one of the leading Nigerian Non-Governmental Organizations implementing programs for improving Reproductive Health and Family planning (RH/FP), Care and Treatment of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria etc. We have certain job positions available at Olikoye Ransome Kuti Medical Centre (ORMC) Ibadan with opportunities for career advancement, good working environment and competitive remuneration.

We seek applications from qualified persons for the following positions:

1.             MATRON

Location: Ibadan, Oyo State.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • To aid in the management and provision of a confidential counselling and health advice service.

· To provide emergency medical care, as required

· To demonstrate expert skills in first aid and medical care and offering advice to colleagues on safe practice.

· To identify, prioritise and implement programmes of care that meets the public health needs.

· To develop and implement up to date regular health promotion initiatives on specific health issues and to specific groups and individuals in line with client needs.

· To prepare and implement individual care plans where appropriate, in conjunction with the clients.

· To assist in the provision of advice, management and care to clients.

· Maintain and record accurate documentation and correspondence in line with compliance regulations and  guidance.

· To provide familiarisation sessions for staff as appropriate e.g. organise regular training for staff, keeping records.

· To administer and store medication correctly, checking expiry dates.

· To be responsible for the maintenance of all assets within the clinic.

· To support review of relevant policies.

• To follow good practice and specific directives on immunisation procedures relevant to the clients if required.

• To carry out any other duties, as may be assigned.

Professional and Technical Knowledge:

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Registered Nurse/Nurse Midwife, Midwifery or higher in the field with relevance to health care. Candidates with relevant work experience or advanced education in public health, health administration, or another relevant field will be considered with preference.
  • Experience in training and developing the skills of others.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to prepare correspondence and reports utilizing Microsoft software and/or e-mail.
  • Ability to create tables and simple displays of information into spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to enter and manage data into a centralized electronic medical records.

2.            FAMILY PLANNING PROVIDER

Location: Ibadan, Oyo State.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for implementing family planning program activities.
  • Coordinate reportable STI follow up with medical providers, patients, and health department.
  • Responsible for purchasing and ordering program supplies and education materials to support the needs of patients and program staff.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to members of the medical care team regarding family planning program and services.
  • Responsible for the completion of all project reporting, including the timely, quality, and concise reports necessary for project deliverables and to evaluate project outcomes.
  • Maintain excellent patient service relationships and represent the organization professionally in all work related interactions with patients, the medical care team and community partners.
  • Responsible for coordinating and participating in outreach events to promote and educate on family planning services and resources.
  • Promote a positive work culture and uphold clinic policies and procedures, including the WE CARE Standards of Behavior.
  • Must uphold confidentiality at all times in regards to activities, reports, financials, patient health information and other proprietary information.

3.            PERI-OPERATIVE NURSE

Location: Ibadan, Oyo State.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing patients prior to surgery and alleviating their concerns
  • provide patient care during the pre-, intra- and postoperative stages. 
  • Gathering all supplies needed for the operation
  • Assuming responsibility of  keeping the operating room clean and  sterilized with other team members.
  • Preparation of instruments, trolleys and sterile supplies requested for surgery.
  • Performing swab, needle and instrument counts in line with standard operating procedures and policies. 
  • Position and prepare patient on operating table
  • Provide assistance to the Anaesthetist and Surgeon when required during operations.
  • Labelling and despatch of laboratory specimens after each procedure.
  • Managing and compiling procedure manuals, theatre registers and clients records. 
  • Communicating departmental policies, policy changes and/ or new procedures to relevant staff
  • Pass medical instruments or other objects to the surgeon during operation
  • Monitor patient’s vital signs to detect anomalies
  • Evaluate patient in postoperative phases
  • Adhere to safety standards and precautions
  • Ensuring that appropriate stock levels are maintained in the operating/surgical unit.
  • Reporting to senior officer/line manager, incidents of accidents, complaints, defects in drugs, supplies or equipment.
  • Participating in trials of new equipment and supplies and evaluation and serviceability of existing equipment.
  • Assume duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned.

  • Ability to enter and manage data into a centralized electronic medical records.

Qualifications:

Applicant must be a certified operating room nurse (CNORs) with at least 3 years experience in Peri-operative nursing care. A diploma  in critical care is an added advantage.  Qualified candidate must possess phenomenal efficiency and attention to detail with a strong knowledge of operation procedures and patient safety. Being compassionate and sensitive is a prerequisite for the position.
