World TB Day 2026: Taking Action in Communities

In continuation of this year’s World TB Day commemoration, the ARFH joined the National TB and Leprosy Control Programme (NTBLCP), the FCT TB Control Programme, and other partners for a community outreach at Mabushi Primary School, Abuja.

The outreach convened key stakeholders, including Dr Dan Gadzama, Director of Public Health, FCT Public Health Department; representatives of the National Coordinator, NTBLCP; the WHO; community leaders; TB Network; TB People Nigeria; and implementing partners all united in the fight against tuberculosis.

Speaking on behalf of ARFH, Dr. Akwu Uwajeh, Project Coordinator of the Global Fund GC7 TB/HIV Grant, emphasized the importance of community-driven approaches in strengthening TB awareness. She highlighted the need for stronger collaboration and the integration of TB services into broader health platforms as a sustainable pathway to ending TB. She also commended the FCT TB Control Programme for organizing the initiative and encouraged residents to take advantage of the free screening and testing services.

The outreach delivered integrated health services, including TB, HIV, Malaria, and Hepatitis screening and testing, bringing lifesaving interventions closer to the Mabushi community.

Together, we can #EndTB.
