Nigeria’s Maiden National Self-Care Day | July 24, 2025

ARFH joined key stakeholders at the Ministerial Press Briefing in Abuja to mark International Self-Care Day, led by Pharm. Olubunmi Aribiana of the Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare.

With the theme “Self-Care for All: Empowering Individuals, Families, and Communities for Better Health”, the event emphasized that self-care is not a luxury but a national priority. It focused on empowering Nigerians with knowledge, tools, and choices to manage their health, particularly in sexual, reproductive, and maternal health.

Stakeholders from the government, WHO, ARFH, SFH, civil society, and the media reaffirmed a shared commitment to scale up self-care across the country.

ARFH CEO, Dr. Kehinde Osinowo, delivered a goodwill message, reaffirming ARFH’s commitment through the Gates Foundation-supported CODSAiN Project scaling up safe and simple self-care solutions like DMPA-SC self-injection, and integrating them into Nigeria’s health system through SWAp and NHSRII.

Together, we are putting people first by supporting women, married adolescents, and vulnerable groups to take control of their health, one step at a time.
