Empowering Women through Self-Injection: Successful Monthly CORPs Outreach at Abule Market, Bariga Shomolu LGA, Lagos State

ARFH and other implementing partners have been supporting the Nigerian government in the scale-up of DMPA self-injection through the community-oriented DMPA SC self-injection acceleration in Nigeria (CODSAiN project) funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

On June 21, 2024, the vibrant Abule Market in Bariga, Shomolu LGA, Lagos State, became the focal point for an inspiring event. The Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) partnered with Lagos State in the Monthly community-oriented resource persons (CORPs) Outreach to raise awareness aimed at increasing the uptake of self-injection amongst women through the self-injection (SI) component of DMPA-SC.

The CORPs provided valuable information on self-injection which enabled women of reproductive age to embrace self-injection and were delighted by the convenience of accessing family planning without leaving their shops.

The Monthly CORPs Outreach showcased the effectiveness of community engagement and innovative solutions in improving health outcomes.

Together, we’re transforming lives and creating a healthier future for all.
