ARFH paid a high-level advocacy and courtesy visit to Dr. Adebobola T. Bashorun, Director and National Coordinator of the National AIDS and STI Control Programme (NASCP), reinforcing a long-standing partnership and shared commitment to Nigeria’s HIV, TB, and integrated health response.
The ARFH delegation was led by Dr. Kehinde Osinowo, Chief Executive Officer, and included Dr. Uwajeh Akwuadikanwa, Programme Coordinator, Global Fund GC7 TB/HIV Integrated (N-THRIP) Project; Pharm. Iliya Sunday, Service Delivery Advisor, HPV Vaccine Project; and Samson Odukogbe, Senior Knowledge and Communications Officer.
The engagement also brought together senior officials from NASCP, including Inya John-Dada, Deputy Director (PDA); Dr. Chioma Ukanwa, Deputy Director (Prevention); Omolara Emmanuel, Deputy Director (Lab); Dr. Peter, Deputy Director (TCS); Jinga Felicity, CMLT; and Amadu Sim Blessing, SSO.
During the meeting, Dr. Osinowo highlighted ARFH’s nearly four decades of experience and sustained contributions across HIV, TB, malaria, RMNCAH, adolescent health, child health, and community-based programming. She emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration with government institutions, strengthening integration across national programmes, and scaling community-driven interventions that respond to local needs.
Providing programme insights, Dr. Uwajeh Akwuadikanwa reflected on ARFH’s implementation of the Global Fund N-THRIP Project, noting ARFH’s extensive work at community and local government levels to deliver integrated HIV and TB services, including paediatric ART, HIV testing services, PMTCT, referral systems, and linkages to primary health care and malaria services.
In his remarks, Dr. Bashorun commended ARFH for its quality-driven implementation, technical depth, and consistency over the years, affirming ARFH’s strategic importance in advancing community-based HIV and TB programming and strengthening collaboration with national and state-level stakeholders.
Key thematic areas emphasized included HIV prevention, prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), community engagement, and health system strengthening.
ARFH reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national priorities through integrated, evidence-based, and community-centered approaches, working closely with NASCP and other stakeholders to improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations across Nigeria.
