ARFH Participates in Key Stakeholder Dialogue on Strengthening PHC for Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria

On 15th August, 2024, ARFH took part in a pivotal stakeholder engagement organized by UHC Forum in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA)  and supported by Options Consultancy. Themed “Harnessing Multistakeholder Approaches to Strengthening PHC Delivery and Accountability,” the event aimed at aligning stakeholders with NPHCDA’s strategic direction and emphasizing the critical role of CSOs and Non-State Actors in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Nigeria.

Representing ARFH were Dr. Kolapo Oyeniyi, Director of Programs, and Nasa Oyelade, Business Development Officer. Dr. Muyi Aina, Executive Director _CEO of NPHCDA, stressed the need to revitalize Primary Health Care (PHC) to enhance access and quality, announcing the launch of a progress tracking dashboard. Lucia Laboso, Project Director of E4A Mamaye, shared valuable insights on enhancing accountability standards for PHC delivery, with lessons drawn from the State-Led Accountability Mechanisms (SLAMs).

The event concluded with discussions on take aways and next steps, including commissioning studies, conducting client satisfaction surveys, and fostering collaborations to fortify Nigeria’s PHC system.
