ARFH and AFENET Explore Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Immunization and Public Health Systems in Nigeria

ARFH Team, led by CEO Dr. Kehinde Osinowo, paid a courtesy visit to the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) Nigeria Country Office. The team was warmly received by Dr. Saheed Gidado, National Coordinator of the National Stop Transmission of Polio (NSTOP) Programme.

The meeting explored opportunities for strategic collaboration across immunization, HPV vaccine delivery, and community-based public health interventions. ARFH shared insights from its HPV Technical Assistance Project, implemented with support from GAVI and VillageReach in Enugu, FCT, Lagos, and Kano States, with emphasis on integration, demand generation, and addressing vaccine hesitancy.

AFENET highlighted its ongoing work through NSTOP, supporting surveillance and routine immunization in several states. The engagement identified shared priorities, including joint capacity building, data-driven planning, and alignment with national goals under the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII) and the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp).

With over three decades of experience implementing across thematic areas such as RMNCAEH+N, HIV, TB, malaria, and adolescent health, ARFH continues to champion equity-driven interventions for underserved communities. This meeting marks the beginning of a deeper partnership focused on advancing health system strengthening in Nigeria.
