Today, ARFH joined the Osun State Ministry of Education and SUBEB with support from UNESCO for an impactful road walk to observe this important day in Osun State. Themed “Protect, Educate, Empower: Learners Call for Safe and Inclusive Schools,” the event underscores our commitment to creating a supportive, violence-free environment in schools.
🚶 The Road Walk:
Starting at Freedom Park and concluding at Aiyetoro Junction, the walk was joined by students, teachers and key stakeholders, including Directors from the State Ministry of Education and SUBEB, the Chairperson of ANCOPPS in Osun State, media representatives, and community leaders. We were also honored to have students and teachers from Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osun State Secondary School for Special Needs, Anglican Commercial Grammar School, Unity Girls School, and St. James’ Grammar School actively participating.
📊 Why This Day Matters:
Bullying, including cyberbullying, affects approximately 1 in 3 students worldwide. According to statistics, 32% of students report being bullied at least once in the past month. Those who experience bullying are twice as likely to report feelings of loneliness and suicidal thoughts compared to non-bullied peers. This violence not only disrupts learning but leads to long-term psychological issues, often impacting adulthood. November 7, recognized as the International Day Against Violence and Bullying at School, Including Cyberbullying, calls for collective action to safeguard students and promote safe, inclusive school environments.
🔗 How You Can Help:
- Speak Out: Spread the message that bullying and violence won’t be tolerated.
- Take a Stand: Support safe school initiatives.
- Stay Informed: Learn how to recognize and prevent bullying.
Together, we can build a world where every learner feels safe, respected, and empowered.
