Communications Officer

Job Description

The Communications Officer would oversee the organization’s communications programs, prepare media briefings and engagements, be responsible for the organization’s communication with different target audiences, handle social media platforms and liaise with the media – Print, Electronic and Online.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on our target audience.
  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, newsletters, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization’s activities, products and/or services.
  • Respond to media inquiries and arrange interviews for the organization.
  • Collate program activities reports for the website
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists, and maintain a media database.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of ARFH, and coordinate publicity events as required.
  • Take photographs during events, maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.
  • Maintain proficiency in design and publishing software.
  • Plan and coordinate online meetings and webinars.

Required Experience

  1. Minimum of 4-5 years’ relevant work experience.
  2. Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop).
  3. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  4. Good time management and organizational skills.
  5. Tech Savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite usage, content management systems, and social media platforms management
  6. Willingness and ability to travel.

Minimum Qualifications

The candidate is required to possess a good First Degree in the Social Sciences or Communications. Master’s Degree in any relevant field is an added advantage.
