Job Description

The Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) is an indigenous non-profit committed to improving quality of life of under-served and vulnerable communities in Nigeria. Hitherto the organisation has relied on donations, grants, gifts to run its programs.

 

However current realities have revealed a significant drop in the traditional income Source of Non-Governmental organizations such as ARFH. Consequently, an urgent need for NGOs to seek to become increasingly self-sustaining through earned income.

 

Accordingly, ARFH RESOURCES NIGERIA LIMITED was incorporated in June 2022 the sole purpose of which is to embark on profit generating opportunities such that Revenues earned will enable the NGO to be self-funding and self-sustaining.

 

The objects for which the Company is established are:

  1. To Undertake the Practice of Medicine and Its Allied Disciplines by Establishing Hospitals, Clinics, Laboratories, pharmaceuticals, And Maternity Homes.
  2. To Operate Drug Rehabilitation Services and Similar Restorative Businesses.
  3. To Do the Business of Building, Equipping and Furnishing Medical Centres of All Descriptions, Laboratories, Pharmacies, Centres for Drug Rehabilitation
  4. To Undertake the Production, Supplies, Including Importation of Drugs, Medical Equipment and Appliances, Chemical Reagents and Other Materials Required in The Running of Hospital, Clinics and Maternity Homes, Laboratories As Well As All Other Health Care Delivery Services.
  5. To Carry on The Supply and Distribution, Including imports And Exports Of General Goods And Services

 

The business development Officer is required primarily to identify new business opportunities to generate a profitable revenue stream and help the business grow.

The work will involve careful strategic planning and positioning in the appropriate markets.

Specific Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic

  1. Research and identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services – or new ways of reaching existing markets eg.
    1. Logistics & Haulage business
    2. Establishment of Pharmacy stores
    3. Farming/Agriculture; food production including poultry, fish-ponds etc.
    4. Consultancy; Training (Program, Finance and Auditing etc) and other services
    5. Supplies and Distribution of medical related goods
  2. Develop feasibility studies and present to Board of Directors
  3. Develop and implement an organizational business development and funding strategy for approved line of Business
  4. Ensure relevant internal approval processes at different levels are followed on making the decision whether or not to pursue a business opportunity.
  5. Develop relevant budgets/financial reports
  6. Leading the development of the Business plan including feasibility study, identifying sources of capital and follow up on the tender for bids.
  7. Ensuring the growth and profitability of the new business venture within the vision, goals and strategic direction approved by the Board.
  8. Maintaining excellent relationships with partners, vendors, customers
  9. Working with existing business unit managers to optimize growth
  10. Ensuring compliance with the appropriate internal control systems.
  11. Maintaining a positive professional working environment

Key Performance Indicators

  1. Within 2 months, report on 3 business Opportunities for the Board of Directors’ consideration
  2. Within 3 months in conjunction with existing business unit leads review operations of existing business units and recommend areas of growth /for improvements
  3. Within 4-month present feasibility studies of 2 opportunities approved by board
  4. Within 6 months Develop a Business Plan for approved business line including all financial matrices
  5. Within 8 months Develop business model for board discussion and approval
  1. Within 12 months have contributed to the successful take-off of the first approved business opportunity
  2. Within 2 years have contributed to a doubling of revenue for the company.

Required Experience

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Significant expertise in all areas of new business development including strategy, forging partnerships including negotiating teaming agreements, project design, proposal writing, budget development, managing relationships and project reporting. This includes developing complex technical/narrative and cost proposals.
  • Educated to degree

 

Desirable:

  • Master’s qualification
  • Experience of line management of

  • Proficiency with financial data, including budgeting, with a close attention to
  • Practical organisational skills with the ability to manage a fluctuating workload, prioritize and re- prioritize when necessary and meet tight deadlines.
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Able to learn quick
