World Malaria Day 2026 – “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must.”

Today, on World Malaria Day 2026, ARFH joins partners across Nigeria to reaffirm our commitment to ending malaria.

This year’s theme, “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must.”, reminds us that progress is possible when communities, health systems, and partners work together.

In Oyo State, through the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative for States (PMI-S) project, ARFH continues to work closely with health facilities and communities to strengthen malaria prevention and treatment. Our teams have supported frontline health workers through on-the-job mentoring, strengthened data use for improved decision-making, and engaged community stakeholders to enhance access to services.

These efforts have contributed to increased antenatal attendance, improved uptake of intermittent preventive treatment in pregnancy (IPTp), and greater use of Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs) among households. We have also supported the reactivation of previously non-functional facilities and improved client flow across supported LGAs.

Across communities, we continue to promote simple but effective actions like sleeping under ITNs, early testing, and timely treatment while strengthening the systems that sustain these interventions.

Ending malaria requires sustained commitment at all levels. At ARFH, we remain dedicated to supporting communities and health systems to drive lasting impact.
