Strengthening School-Based Health Education through FLHE across Osun State

As part of the ongoing implementation of the state-led O3 Initiative (Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future) supported by UNESCO, ARFH continues to strengthen school-based health education across Osun State through targeted capacity-building for teachers on Family Life and HIV Education (FLHE).

In Odo Otin LGA, teachers were recently engaged in focused training sessions aimed at enhancing their capacity to deliver accurate, age-appropriate, and rights-based FLHE content. The training emphasized effective classroom delivery, adolescent-responsive approaches, and the creation of safer, more inclusive, and youth-friendly school environments that support learners’ wellbeing.

Across the six LGAs covered under the O3 Phase Two rollout- Ifelodun, Iwo, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Ayedaade, and Odo Otin, a total of 2,002 teachers were trained, comprising 694 males and 1,308 females, further strengthening the reach and impact of FLHE delivery across the state.

These engagements form part of broader efforts to improve adolescent health outcomes, strengthen school-health linkages, and foster supportive systems that involve parents, communities, and health facilities.

Through sustained, school-based interventions under the O3 Initiative, ARFH remains committed to supporting the Osun State Government in empowering young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions and build healthier future.
