Today, 6th January 2026, Dr. Kehinde Osinowo, alongside a delegation from ARFH, paid an advocacy visit to Dr. John Ovuoraye, the newly appointed Director of the Family Health Department, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. Dr. Osinowo congratulated Dr. Ovuoraye on his well-deserved appointment and acknowledged the Ministry’s leadership in advancing RMNCAH+N, adolescent health, family planning, and immunization.
The meeting brought together key officials from the Family Health Department, including Dr. Amina Mohd, Director and Head of Child Health; Dr. Samuel Oyeniyi, Director and Head of Reproductive Health; Dr. Welle Sylvanus, Acting Head of GASHE Division; Dr. Dachung Alexander Bitrus, SMO; Yusuf Isa and Ajibola Babatunde from Health Promotion; and Yusuf Baba Abdulazeez, Personal Assistant to the DFH. Also representing ARFH were Tochi Odele, Program Manager CODSAiN Project, and Samson Odukogbe, Senior Knowledge and Communications Officer.
During the discussions, Samson Odukogbe highlighted ARFH’s commitment to supporting national health priorities and multisectoral initiatives, including reproductive and adolescent health services, health system strengthening, HPV vaccination, HIV, TB, malaria programs, gender-based violence interventions, school and out-of-school youth programs, and harnessing the demographic dividend through health promotion activities and integrated services.
Dr. Ovuoraye acknowledged ARFH’s longstanding contributions to the health sector and pledged continued collaboration. Key discussion points included last-mile distribution of health commodities, health system strengthening, data-driven decision-making, contraceptive method mix, and avoiding parallel reporting systems.
The visit reinforced ARFH’s dedication to partnering with the Ministry to advance integrated, multisectoral health initiatives that strengthen communities and improve health outcomes across Nigeria.
