Professor Adeyemi Olu Adekunle is a Professor and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with extensive clinical, surgical, teaching and research experience. He is an internationally recognized researcher and trainer with vast experience within and outside Nigeria. He retired from the University College Hospital, Ibadan and the University of Ibadan in 2019 after 46 years of meritorious services.
Prof. Adekunle’s main area of interest is Fertility Regulation and Gynaecological Endocrinology. His major contributions in these areas involved efforts to develop new contraceptives, clinical trials, introduction of clinic-based methods, development of training manuals and service protocols, training of service providers and evaluation of national and international family planning programmes. His several publications in these areas have added new aspects and enriched the field of contraceptive research and development for the future. Professor Adekunle attracted and managed grants for several international organizations. He has several years of experience as a team leader, consultant and manager of family planning and reproductive health programmes.
Professor Adekunle has consulted for several international organizations and has over 35 years’ experience working with the international donor community and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
