Advocating for the Reproductive Rights of Women and Girls in Nigeria - Ipas Nigeria Visit to ARFH

Reproductive Health is a human right, yet poor reproductive health conditions are the leading cause of deaths and illnesses in women of childbearing age worldwide. As a leading indigenous non-governmental organization in Nigeria working in reproductive and family health, ARFH is committed to working with partners to advocate for the rights of women and girls. It is against this backdrop that a team from Ipas Nigeria lead by the Country Director Dr. Nihinlola Mabogunje paid a visit to ARFH Abuja office.

Ipas is a global non-governmental organization dedicated to ending preventable deaths and disabilities from unsafe abortion. Through local, national and global partnerships, Ipas works to ensure that women can obtain safe, respectful and comprehensive abortion care, including counseling and contraception to prevent future unintended pregnancies. Speaking at the event Dr. Nihinlola Mabogunje said women must be given the opportunity to make the right choice that is best for them. She further stated that Ipas Nigeria works to improve women’s access and right to safe, high quality abortion care and reproductive health services thereby reducing maternal and morbidity in Nigeria.

Speaking, Prof Ladipo welcomed the team and expressed his happiness for the visit and reaffirmed ARFH's support for Ipas women's Rights advocacy efforts and pledge support to exploring avenues for programmatic partnership between Ipas and ARFH. ARFH remind committed to working with partners to ensure communities in Nigeria are empowered with access to sexual and reproductive health services.
